Our Planned Giving Society members are a group of individuals just like you who have planned ahead to ensure that people and families who are struggling will always have a place to receive the support they need to live with dignity and security.
Everything we do is designed to provide the people we serve with renewed strength and independence, helping them to heal and to thrive. From children and teens who struggle with a range of developmental and emotional challenges, to victims of domestic violence and their families, to meeting the needs of aging older adults, we are there for our community.
By leaving a legacy, you can ensure that the important work you cherish and support today will exist in the future. This is your opportunity to ensure that your giving extends beyond your life.
Common ways to make a planned gift:
- Bequest: The most common form of deferred giving, you can make a charitable bequest to JFS through your will. Specify an amount, a percentage, or the residual of your estate.
- Retirement Plan or IRA: Designate JFS as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, IRA or annuity, payable after-life. As a nonprofit, JFS isn’t subject to income/estate tax on retirement plan assets.
- Life Insurance Policy: You can name JFS as a beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy or purchase a new policy naming JFS as the owner and beneficiary.
- Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA): A CGA is irrevocable but provides you with guaranteed income throughout your lifetime. You can create a CGA through a gift of cash or marketable securities. You and/or another individual then receive a set quarterly income for life. When benefits expire, a meaningful legacy gift will be created to support JFS.
A planned gift to JFS will guarantee that JFS will be a viable source of community support now and for future generations who will face new challenges. Your Jewish Family Service planned gift will:
- Demonstrate your commitment to the well-being of our community
- Enable you to support JFS with a gift through your will, retirement plan, life insurance, or other means that won’t cost anything during your lifetime
- Ensure the viability of JFS by providing an ongoing source of stable income
- Enable JFS to respond to changing social and economic demands with new, innovative programs
- Create emergency reserve funds that will supplement JFS annual giving
- Ensure that community members in crisis can always turn to JFS as a resource
- Provide a way to leave a meaningful gift to JFS in the future that you may not have thought possible today
